But this popular site looks back at Mosley's political career in the 1930s ... the decade of great ideological conflict.

Sir Oswald Mosley remains an interesting and controversial figure long after his death in 1980.
Although Mosley is best known as the leader of the British Union of Fascists in the 1930s, the post-war era saw him develop his radical ideas for European Union, the many problems of those years and a vision for the future.

Mosley's concept of a united Europe is a far cry from the bureaucratic chaos that plagues the Brussels circus. His united Europe is a Europe of the peoples, in brotherhood and in a common understanding of Europe's traditions and of its great history.

It is a Europe strong and free, uniting people who share a common past, a common present and a common future.

Robert Edwards is the author of "Sir Oswald Mosley and the British Union of Fascists" (published in 2002).
He is also a former member of Mosley's Union Movement.
